„Es gibt keinen Tag an dem ich nicht aufstehe und denke: ich muss an meine Arbeit, ich muss malen.“ Regula Humm-Rellstab, eine 93-Jährige Frau, schaut zurück auf ihr langes Leben als Künstlerin. Sie beschreibt es als Seiltanz, bei dem sie versucht hat, nicht abzustürzen. In ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen ging sie keine Kompromisse ein, doch wie sie als Künstlerin, Ehefrau und Mutter alles unter einen Hut brachte – diese Frage beschäftig sie bis heute noch.
Der Dokumentarfilm zeigt poetisch, was wirklich wesentlich ist im Leben und was am Ende bleibt.
